Everyone I know who has engaged firms in major construction projects has had some level of difficulty, problems and disapointment with the project and/or the contractor. We had NONE. Your estimate was fair and accurate. It was also the lowest, beating one estimate by 35% and another by 15% - J.C. A friend of ours recommended Shoppers World Construction five years ago when we were looking to remodel our home. This included the addition of a second story and two extensions. The work was so extensive it took roughly a year to increase the size more than twice the original square footage. All the work was great and they were very accommodating while we waited on materials I ordered. The architect also found them very easy to work with on the project. We had some specific demands, such as hand trails stucco, that look amazing. Since the interior of the house was gutted, everything is new and improved. There were a few things we thought looked good on paper, but needed to be changed once we moved in the house. Shoppers World has been helping us customize things to our liking. They were removing a porch and adding a family room about four times the size. It become a more unique job after the framing. When you get the best you can see how it pays off. When the framers came to the house they realized that the lines that were being used in the design followed that of the porch and would not support the extension. The framers and Chris from Shoppers World sat with us to explain that they would have to raise the roof for the design to work. Although this was costly with time and money it was worth the value. The bottom line is they did a great job. They put the time into the details of the project and were finished in three months without any rush. Of the contractors we interviewed, Shoppers World did not give us the best price, but we took a liking to Chris. From the start, he and his crew were very pleasant. The renovation of the kitchen also involved the movement of a wall two feet from the kitchen further into the dining room. They were very accurate with the time line given and did not have to deal with a dumpster taking up most of the yard. That being said, it was still very clean. Our only wait was for the variance and that might have even been expedited due to the location of Shoppers World Construction. We happened to be going through a stressful time and enjoyed the lack of addition stress we anticipated from adding an extension.
